How do you do it!? well there is this knob and you turn...., no, it is just something what I like in sound. You've seen the band change since the late 70s until now, what were your favorite tours?I like to tour, the far away places (like Tokyo, Moscow, Dakar) are of course more exiting. You are also very involved in Nits studio recording. What is your role, besides manning the soundboard? Do you have creative input?I suppose that by working with all the sounds and effects there must be some sort of creativity I have a photo from around 1977 where you are on stage with the Nits, don't you ever feel the need to play music yourself anymore? no Do you ever get on the internet to look at Nits websites? yes, I like to do that. Dennis Versteeg wants to know:	How do you start designing the lighting for a Nits tour? the lightshow varies with the type of place where play, a club has less possibilities than a theatre. I start by looking at the setup of the instruments, sometimes I use the CD-cover and sometimes Henk gives some hints. You seem to have a fondness for basic colors, large surfaces and straight lines, is this true? I like strong, saturated colours, and they must make good contrasts (they should be far apart in the spectrum). I use white or light tinted frontlight on the musicians, coloured frontlights only for effect. Yes, I like to use the surrounding space for the lightshow. About the straight lines, I'm not so sure. Lightbeams will always go in straight lines. If you would offer me a spot that gives a curved lightbeam, I'd be seriously interested. You've seen the band change since the late 70s until now, what were your favorite tours? don't know When you strated as a roadie with Nits you were probably the youngest crew member, now I think you're the crew member that's the longest there. Are you the one who organizes everything for the crew or is it a sort of equal responsibilities kind of thing? It's my responsability to find the right people to work with. Because I'm the only crewmember in full service (the rest is freelance), in theory I'm the roadmanager, but this is purely in theory. Do you play an instrument yourself? No. Do you ever get on the internet to look at Nits websites? Now and then I look at the fansites, to see if they have things I can steal for our own site. What's your favorite Nits song and your favorite non-Nits song? favourite nits songs: 'Joan is she riding' (from the early 70's) and 'Sorrow', (unreleased recording played by Henk, Rob and Martin). non-nits: concrete & clay / unit 4+2
